A Conversation with Dr. Christos Karanikas, Global Chemical Engineering Director at Nike

Nike’s Global Chemical Engineering Director, Chris Karanikas, shares his story about what it takes to become head of the chemical engineering department at the world’s largest footwear and apparel brand.

Classically trained as a chemical engineer with interest in polymers and materials as well as a desire to fuse science and business, Chris obtained his BS in Chemical Engineering from the University of Pittsburgh, his PhD in Chemical Engineering from the University of Massachusetts and an MBA from the State University of New York, University at Albany.

He will share his story of how engineering and materials took him from his first job in the plastics industry to his role as a lithography engineer in the semiconductor industry and ultimately how it landed him in fast fashion at Nike.
