Provost Request for Proposals: Digital Learning Initiatives at Notre Dame

The Office of the Provost requests proposals from faculty seeking to enhance teaching and learning at Notre Dame through digital means. Please review the request for proposals attached below and also available here; new for Spring 2016 is a streamlined proposal registration process

Proposals are due on Friday, March 18 for support and funding for academic year 2016-17. Projects will be supported jointly by Office of Digital Learning, the Kaneb Center for Teaching and Learning, the Hesburgh Libraries, and the OIT Teaching & Learning Technologies Section. Projects eligible for grant funding and in-kind support may include the following:

  • creation of courseware and digital learning materials for large-enrollment or ‘gateway’ courses on campus;

  • creation of online summer courses for Summer 2017;

  • design of and support for ‘co-located’ courses (jointly taught in multiple locations or between multiple institutions);

  • creation and operation of MOOCs, offered through our partner edX, for public enrichment and global engagement;

  • research into effective digital learning strategies and experimental digital media;

  • software integrations;

  • pilot programs to evaluate software and other digital materials;

  • graduate and postdoctoral research related to digital learning and pedagogy;

  • e-textbook implementations and e-textbook authoring.

All proposed projects will receive feedback and referrals; supported projects will be selected by a committee of tenured faculty and are subject to the approval of the Department Chair, Dean and other governance bodies as appropriate.
